On the 28th of October 2014, the Minister of Foreign Affairs appointed Valeriy Goloborodko, who after moving to Seattle, made a significant contribution to the Ukrainian community and continues to do so, as the Honorary Consul of Ukraine for Washington and Oregon States. Following the appointment Consulate of Ukraine in Seattle opened in February of 2016.
The jurisdiction of the Consulate of Ukraine in Seattle includes:
- Promoting the development of economic, cultural and scientific relations between Ukraine and America;
- Business relations between Ukraine and the USA;
- Interregional cooperation which includes cooperation between cities, universities, hospitals and NGOs;
- Social dialogue with the Ukrainian community in the US and the protection of their legitimate interests.
