Additional Details:

We will describe, analyze and interpret photographs as works of visual art. We will attempt to reconstruct a vision of Poland’s and Eastern Europe's past and present that emerges from these images, by answering key questions: What does the photograph depict? What does it tell us about the object depicted? What does it tell us about the photographer? How does the photographer see the world? What do I see while looking at the photograph? We will study works by contemporary (post-1945) Polish photographers, both those already considered “classics” or “masters” and the “young” but already recognized photographers. Their works focus on portraying Poland and other Eastern European countries.
