Reinvention of Urban Prose: The Anthology "Twelve" in the Context of Contemporary Lviv

Friday, January 28, 2011 - 3:30pm to 5:00pm
EEB 045, UW Seattle

The anthology "Twelve" was published in Lviv in 2006 and recognized in Ukraine as that year's best book. The book represents the work of a literary group of 12 young authors who started meeting in 1934; in 1935 they published their first (and last) joint edition. With the arrival of Soviet and Nazi forces, the group Twelve lost its future; at the beginning of the 21st century, the anthology "Twelve" seeks to restore the group's lost past.
