The highlight of this year's concert is Alma Subasic, who has been a child star in Bosnia for years and has recorded and performed in many major concert venues in former Yugoslavia with the finest artists in the field of sevdah. She will be accompanied by the busiest Bosnian musician in the United States, Sakib Jakupovic, being flown in from Detroit. The concert will also feature last year’s special guest from San Jose, Muhamed Kocan, who we all fell in love with for the heart he puts into every note. Young Selmah Kapidzic from Vancouver BC will sing accompanied by her father Adnan on guitar. Our band to accompany local singers, affectionately called The Sevdah All-Stars, includes Elvir Becic, Joe Finn, Steve Ramsey, and Nermin Osmanovic. Local singers include Nura Novakovic-Zukanovic, Mary Sherhart, Amina Becic, Tali McGill, and Fehim Salaka. The annual concert wouldn’t be right without an opener of a lone saz player, Nihad Dozic, and the colorful traditionally costumed dancers of the Bosnian-Herzegovinan Cultural Artistic Association Sevdah of Seattle.
