The second edition of the festival will feature 7 Romanian films: comedies, dramas, and documentaries.
One Eye Laughing, One Eye Crying - Tales of Resistance, the Romanian Film Festival in Seattle, is presented by the local non-profit American Romanian Cultural Society.
The festival will take place at SIFF Cinema Uptown, bringing together cinema enthusiasts and lovers of Romanian culture for a weekend of film and interaction with special guest speakers filmmaker Radu Gabrea, actress Victoria Cocias, and screenwriter Florin Lazarescu from Romania. New York-based film critic Monica Filimon, SIFF Film programmer Maryna Ajaja, and local animation artist Neely Goniodsky will lead the Q&A sessions.
The event is organized in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York and with the support of the Department for Relations with Romanians Abroad of the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 4Culture in Seattle, the Department of Germanics, the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, and the Ellison Center at the University of Washington, SIFF, City Arts, NW Family Dental, and more than 70 private donors.
