Slavic Department 50th anniversary Celebration

Please join us for a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the UW Slavic Department!

Renowned author and award winning historian Douglas Smith will be giving a lecture entitled "In Search of the Real Rasputin".  Please join us for a fascinating look at one of the most interesting and controversial figures in Russian history.  We will also hear from a notable department alumna and current students.  The lecture will be followed by a reception in the Walker-Ames room.

Douglas Smith is an award-winning historian and translator and the author of Former PeopleRasputin, and other books on Russia. Before becoming a historian, he worked for the U. S. State Department in the Soviet Union and as a Russian affairs analyst for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Munich. He lives in Seattle with his wife and two children.
