Senior Seminar is a required class for all NELC majors. Through a set of core readings about the history and place of Near and Middle Eastern Studies at the US universities and at the University of Washington, this course focuses on honing academic presentation and communication skills and assessing the value of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization major after graduation. Students are encouraged to participate as active learners by reworking written papers and through other written and oral projects. Through peer feedback students learn from each other’s experiences as majors of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization. This course focuses on technical and contextual aspects of oral and written academic presentation and communication.

Catalog Description:
Oral and written academic presentation and communication. Open to students concentrating or considering concentration in literary studies.
