Alexis McClimans, department undergrad major, published in "the Birch"

Congratulations to department undergraduate major, Alexis McClimans. She will have an essay published in the Spring version of "The Birch", a Slavic studies journal published by the University of Columbia. Her paper is titled "The Politics of Adaptation: the Violence of Ovashvili’s The Other Bank."

The essay examines the differences between Nugzar Shataidze's short story "Journey to Africa" and George Ovashvili's adaptation The Other Bank, and how those changes represent the shifting political atmosphere in Georgia from the period of publication to adaptation.
