The UW Libraries Cataloging and Metadata Services Division has an opening for a "Slavic Quick-Cataloger." 

Flexible schedule, 10 hours/week (during Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM), working in Suzzallo Library.

 

This position involves searching on complex bibliographic databases, sorting materials according to Cataloging procedure criteria, and updating and inputting records for the Library's catalog. You will work with unique materials from Russia and Eastern Europe, in all Slavic languages and also including Baltic, Central Asian, Hungarian, and Romanian languages. Opportunities for investigative problem solving and broadening your linguistic horizons! 

Ideally you must have completed at least 3 years or the equivalent of Russian. (Or at least the ability to read Cyrillic and very good knowledge of some other Slavic language.) You must have fluent English, be able to type accurately and quickly, be willing to learn computer procedures and the Library of Congress transliteration tables. Additional Slavic/Baltic/Central Asian language skills preferred.

 $15.60/hour starting wage
