Taylor Eftimov is this year’s recipient of the Outstanding Graduate Student Award. This prize is awarded for academic excellence and service to the department, which Taylor demonstrated throughout her completion of a PhD in Slavic Languages & Literatures.
“I specifically came to UW's Slavic program because it is one of the few in the country that does not require knowledge of the Russian language,” Taylor explained in an email. “Because I wanted to focus on the literature of the Balkans, I decided that instead of completing my PhD in English, I would enroll in a Slavic department,” she continued.
Following graduation, Taylor hopes to remain in the world of education: “After graduation I would like to find a university teaching job. I am open to English, Slavic, or Comparative Literature positions and would prefer a tenure-track position. However, I am also open to, for example, working at a library or in other administrative positions in academia or government agencies. I may also consider a post-doc in the future,” Taylor said in her email.
We wish Dr. Eftimov all the best as she embarks on this new chapter in her life!
