Biography
Agata Stronciwilk is an art historian and cultural studies expert specializing in contemporary Polish art. In 2019 she received a Ph.D. in cultural studies at the University of Silesia in Katowice, where she also graduated from Interfaculty Individual Studies in Humanities, studying philosophy, art history, and culture studies. She completed her art history degree at the University of Wroclaw. She worked at Education Department at Silesian Museum in Katowice, where she dealt with Polish art from the 19th to 21st century and Upper Silesian cultural heritage. In the years 2017-2022, she worked at the Art Department at Jan Dlugosz University in Częstochowa. Since 2021, she has been employed at the Institute of Art Studies at the University of Silesia in Katowice, and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. She conducted guest lectures at the University of Turku (Finland), Kathmandu University (Nepal), University of Warwick (England) and University of Sofia (Bulgaria). Member of the international association ICREFH – International Commission for Research into European Food History. She was awarded a Fulbright Slavic Award for the year 2022/2023, she also received a scholarship at the Wirth Institute for Austrian and Central European Studies at the University of Alberta in Edmonton (Canada). In her research, she concentrates on sensory perception and food motifs in contemporary art.
