The UW – University of Ljubljana Exchange Committee invites applications to visit the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) during the 2025 calendar year!
Deadline for applications: December 9, 2024. See details below.
Since 1979, the UW – University of Ljubljana Exchange has supported many productive collaborations involving faculty from various disciplines, including Arts and Sciences, the Built Environments, Business, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Law, Medicine, Nursing, and Social Work. Open to faculty, other academic personnel, and senior graduate students (Ph.D. candidates) from any UW campus, college, school, or academic program, participants in this exchange spend 2-4 weeks in Ljubljana, during which time they give lectures, interact with Slovene students, and collaborate with Slovene faculty colleagues in their field of specialization. Up to 3 members of the UW community participate each year.

Requirements & Expectations
Participants are expected to take part in the academic life of the University of Ljubljana during their visit, which includes, but is not limited to, giving lectures and collaborating with Slovene faculty and students. Knowledge of Slovene language is not required to participate in the exchange.
Although no direct, immediate exchange reciprocity in the participant’s field of research is expected, long-term reciprocity resulting from productive, collaborative research is encouraged. At the end of the program, UW participants are required to submit a concise report identifying the academic outcomes of their visit, and outlining the next steps in the collaboration.
The visit must be completed by December 31, 2025, and take place while the University of Ljubljana is in session (spring or fall semester).
