Ostromir Gospels

Submitted by Susanna J Westen on

At the Ninth Annual Slavic Linguistics Society Conference, held on the UW campus September 19-21, 2014, conference participant and UW Slavic alumnus Charles Mills (PhD 2004) presented the UW Libraries with a gift copy of a rare and valuable 1988 facsimile reprint of the Ostromir Gospels of 1056, one of the two earliest known manuscript codices written in Old Russian.  The volume has been bookplated with a dedication from Charles to UW Professor Emeritus of Slavic linguistics Herbert Coats and will be available in the Library's Department of Special Collections.
